Why is RailMate™ Smart?
Today's transportation needs have increased significantly over time and show no indication of slowing. Our society, our environment and our economic instability are all impacted by the escalating need to move product from one point to another more efficiently.

Issues surrounding our transportation dilemma include:
  • Increasing fuel costs
  • Shortage of qualified truck drivers
  • Growing highway congestion, slowing commutes
  • Diesel truck emissions contributing to poor air quality
  • Increased noise
  • Increased costs for developing & maintaining highways
  • Highway degradation due to heavy equipment travel
  • Escalating land prices

What Type of Cargo Does RailMate™ Accommodate?
RailMate™'s unique single-axle bogie designed to provide a smooth ride for even the most fragile cargo.

RailMate™ trailers are designed to accommodate cargo types as well as application requirements. For instance, the aggregate industry has application requirements for belly dump, side dump and end dump trailers. RailMate™ trailers and container chassis are designed to handle most industry application needs.

How Has RailMate™ Been Tested?
RailMate™ contracted
Rail Sciences, Inc., endorsed by the Federal Railroad Administration, to simulate computer models, using VAMPIRE Rail Vehicle Dynamics software, of large unit trains over steep grade and curves that may be encountered by RailMate™ products. RailMate™ equipment successfully demonstrated capabilities to deliver predictable performance.

Can RailMate™ Be Used Outside the U.S?
RailMate™ is structured to withstand the higher weight limits of Mexico and Canada accommodating NAFTA transportation requirements.

Patented in 35 countries, RailMate™ is being built to any gauge as necessitated by specific requirements throughout the world.

What Components Make Up RailMate™?
RailMate™ is designed to provide large consist trains or have smaller number of units attached to the rear of a freight train.
  • A locomotive is required for power to pull.
  • A RailMate™ transition unit is required to connect the locomotive or the end of the freight train to RailMate™ trailers.
  • RailMate™ bogies are required for connecting RailMate™ trailers together and enabling travel over rail tracks.
  • RailMate™ trailers are required to have a receiver unit embedded at the rear of the trailer. The fifth wheel connects to the front end of the trailer to the RailMate™ bogie or transition unit.
